To get the Cat C1 licence you first must have a provisional licence for C1. To get this, you'll need to apply to the DVSA using form and have a medical done. Please get in touch to find out the licence acquisition process. We can help you each step of the way.
The C1 licence is for driving vehicles above a maximum gross weight of 3.5 tonnes and up to a maximum gross weight of 7.5 tonnes. If you passed your car test before 1997 you will have the C1 licence already, but anyone passing after this will need to sit another test. The C1 licence is for lorry's up to 7.5 tonnes but also for large vans such as for the Ambulance Service, and some horseboxes. We also offer C1+E which will give the entitlement to tow a large trailer behind the C1 vehicle up to a maximum train weight of 12 tonnes.
The cost for 10 hours training including use of vehicle for the test is £535.00 + vat. The test fees are £40 for the part 3a (off road manoeuvres) test, and £115 for the 3b (on road driving) test. There is no vat on the test fees. Total incl training, test fees and vat is £797.00.
First you must get a medical done by a qualified doctor using the DVLA D4 form. Then fill in DVLA D2 form (ticking the licence you want) and send those forms, along with your current licence to the DVLA. Once you have received your licence back, you can book the hazard perception, multiple choice and (if required) the CPC case study theory tests. After you have successfully completed the theory tests you can do the C1 driving tests. Get in touch to find out more!
